GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. — A Mayfield/Graves County Parks and Recreation employee has been arrested following an investigation into alleged misuse of county funds.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office said the Mayfield Graves County Parks and Recreation Board requested an investigation after identifying suspicious purchases linked to an employee-issued credit card. The employee was identified as 38-year-old Trent E. Blackwood, a resident of Graves County.

According to investigators, a review of financial records and interviews with Blackwood revealed that more than $1,000 in unapproved purchases were made using the assigned credit card.

As a result, Blackwood was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000. Authorities noted that the investigation was initiated at the request of the Parks and Recreation Board.

Blackwood is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains under review as it proceeds through the legal system.
