Mumbai Police have arrested three men from Andheri and Jogeshwari for allegedly stealing 46 motorcycles worth Rs13 lakh from the western suburbs.
The accused have been identified as Munna Kedar Mali, Janardan Vishwas Bane (alias Nana), and Ashpak Ibrahim Mansuri. Police said the gang carefully observed parked two-wheelers at night and stole them from various locations.
The investigation began after Raju Balkrishna Pujari, a resident of Andheri, reported his motorcycle stolen from Barfiwala Road in July last year. Multiple thefts were also reported in DN Nagar, Juhu, and Versova, prompting a special police drive.
Using CCTV footage and technical leads, officers identified and detained Mali and Bane on Monday. During questioning, they confessed to stealing motorcycles and selling them to Mansuri, who allegedly dismantled the bikes in his Jogeshwari workshop and sold the parts to avoid detection.
Police recovered all 46 motorcycles from the trio. Further investigation revealed the gang had committed thefts across Goregaon, Colaba, Versova, and DN Nagar, with most cases concentrated in Versova. The accused were produced before a local court in Andheri and remanded in police custody.
