Sangrur police have arrested three men in connection with the murder of Krishan Kumar alias Neeta (35) in Lehragaga earlier this month, recovering stolen silver and artificial jewellery. The crime occurred during the night of January 2–3, 2026, when three unidentified men allegedly broke into Kumar’s house to commit a robbery, stealing around Rs15,000 in cash and jewellery. Kumar sustained serious injuries during the attack and later died, turning the case into a murder investigation.
Following a complaint by the deceased’s relative Jatinder Kumar, an FIR was registered under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), equivalent to Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC, at Lehra Police Station.
The investigation was led by Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Davinder Atri, with supervision from DSP (Detective) Daljit Singh Virk and DSP (Lehra Sub-Division) Ranbir Singh, supported by multiple teams, including CIA staff and Lehra police personnel. On January 6, police arrested Akashdeep Sharma (23) alias Lucky, Manpreet Singh (25) alias Biru, and Sunny Kumar (21) alias Mangal, all residents of the Lehra area.
During the investigation, Sections 331(8) and 309(4) of the BNS (equivalent to Sections 460 and 392 IPC) were added to the case. Police recovered silver and artificial jewellery looted during the crime. Preliminary findings suggest that monetary disputes may have motivated the murder.
Two of the accused shared the same confectionery profession as the victim and lived in the same locality. While Krishan Kumar was attacked, the accused tied the hands and mouth of his mother but did not harm her. Except for Manpreet Singh, the other two accused have prior criminal records. Police continue interrogations for further revelations.
