PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the city’s East Bluff neighborhood, according to the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Shamari D. Joiner, 18, was taken into custody on Jan. 7 for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a 17-year-old victim at gunpoint.
Authorities said the incident took place on Nov. 21, 2025, when the victim contacted police and reported being robbed by a group of individuals armed with firearms. Investigators said one of the suspects recorded the robbery and later posted the video on Snapchat.
Using the video and information from social media accounts, the victim was able to identify several of the individuals involved.
During an interview with detectives, Joiner admitted he was present during the robbery but claimed he did not take part in the act. Despite this, he has been charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
Joiner remains in custody as he awaits trial.
Police also confirmed that two additional teenagers, ages 17 and 15, have been arrested in connection with the same robbery.
