The Porbandar Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested eight individuals, including two key masterminds, in connection with the robbery of cash and jewellery worth Rs 19.7 lakh from a house in Kandorna village, Ranavav taluka, on July 28.
The loot was reportedly planned by the brother-in-law of complainant Karsan Ahir (60). The accused stole 27 tolas of gold and Rs 80,000 in cash during the brazen assault.
According to SP Bhagirathsingh Jadeja, six masked men armed with knives barged into Ahir’s house, gagged him, his wife Pami, and daughter-in-law Jashu with plastic tape, and physically assaulted them before carrying out the robbery.
Four teams — the LCB, Special Operations Group (SOG), Parole and Furlough Squad, and Ranavav police — coordinated a manhunt using CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and human intelligence. They tracked the gang’s vehicle from Ranavav towards Jamnagar, intercepted it, and recovered the stolen valuables.
LCB in-charge inspector RK Kambariya said the first arrests included Ravirajsingh Jadeja, Jatin Pal, Siddheshwar alias Sidhu Parmar, Sahil alias Kalu Yadav, Neeraj alias Bathiyo Chauhan, and Vishal Chaudhary.
During interrogation, Ravirajsingh confessed that the robbery was masterminded by Ahir’s brother-in-law, Dilip Sanjva, and his associate Praful Charadva. They had provided details about the house, valuables, and family movements, and agreed to take 50% of the loot after the crime.
Based on this, the LCB arrested Sanjva and Charadva. Preliminary investigations reveal that Sanjva is a habitual offender, previously booked in a kidnapping-and-murder case in Gandhinagar district.
Authorities are continuing investigations to identify any further accomplices and trace additional stolen property.
