BRYAN, Texas — Two men were arrested after Bryan police say they stole more than $10,000 in roofing materials in a suspected organized effort.
Officers responded to an alarm at ABC Supply on Jan. 5 at 2 a.m., located at 3000 E. State Highway 21. Upon arrival, authorities observed two suspects dressed in black fleeing the scene. After a brief chase, police apprehended Ernest McMillan III and Cedric Austin.
At the scene, officers discovered four U-Haul trucks. Police documents indicate Austin admitted that he and others had driven the U-Hauls from Humble to Bryan for “a job,” and one truck was already en route to Houston. One of the trucks had been reported stolen in Harris County. Two trucks were loaded with shingles valued at approximately $10,091.
McMillan and Austin were booked into the Brazos County Jail on charges of evading arrest, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and organized crime. Each has a bond set at $175,000. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
