Mumbai police have arrested a 40-year-old man, identified as Manoj Mohan Rathod from Palghar district, for committing theft at actor Abhimanyu Singh’s residence. Authorities recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 1.37 crore.

The theft occurred on the night of December 29-30 at the actor’s bungalow in Lokhandwala, Andheri West, when an unknown individual entered the home through a bathroom window. The thief stole gold, diamond, and silver jewellery, along with cash and the safe in which the valuables were kept.

The case was registered based on a complaint filed by the actor’s 82-year-old mother. During investigations, it was revealed that Rathod had a criminal record and was involved in at least 14 other theft cases in Mumbai and nearby areas.

Using technical assistance and surveillance, Mumbai police tracked Rathod to a Palghar locality and arrested him on Tuesday. During interrogation, Rathod disclosed that part of the stolen jewellery had been kept with a jeweller, while the rest remained at his residence. Police subsequently recovered items worth Rs 1.37 crore.

Authorities continue to investigate to determine whether Rathod was linked to any additional thefts in the city.
