ROME — A Rome man was arrested this week following an alleged shoplifting incident at a local Walmart involving food taken from the store’s deli, according to reports.

Authorities identified the suspect as Demarcus Terrell Alexander, 36, of Rome. Reports indicate Alexander allegedly consumed chicken wings from the Walmart deli and then discarded the packaging before leaving the store without making payment. The value of the food was listed at $6.99.

Alexander has been charged with theft by shoplifting in connection with the incident.

As with all criminal cases, the charge represents an allegation only. Mr. Alexander is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
