PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A hit-and-run early Thursday morning led to the arrest of a man accused of driving under the influence and multiple traffic violations, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records.
The suspect, Arturo Lopez Vasquez, a White male, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI causing damage or injury, operating a vehicle without a valid license (second offense), leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, and refusal to submit to DUI testing (subsequent offense). The arrest is documented under Report No. 516847 and was published at 5:05 a.m. on January 1, 2026.
Authorities have not released details about the crash circumstances or the extent of any injuries or property damage. Florida law imposes heightened penalties for DUI violations when combined with prior offenses, refusal to test, or crashes.
The case will be reviewed by prosecutors, who will determine whether formal charges are filed and how the matter proceeds in court.
As with all criminal cases, the allegations are accusations only. Lopez Vasquez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
