Delhi police have arrested three people for allegedly stealing denim cloth worth approximately Rs15.4 lakh from a shop on New Rohtak Road, north Delhi.
The shop owner, aged 41, filed an online e-FIR on December 24 at Sarai Rohilla Police Station after discovering that the thieves had broken the shop lock during a nighttime burglary and stolen 22 bundles of jeans material, each valued around Rs70,000.
Police reviewed CCTV footage, which captured the tempo used in the theft. Investigators traced the vehicle to Naresh (45), a resident of Prem Nagar, who had booked it from New Rohtak Road to Yamunapar on the day of the incident. Acting on a tip-off, Naresh was arrested on Sunday.
Naresh reportedly committed the burglary with three associates: Iqbal, Ashraf, and Hanif. The stolen denim was taken to Iqbal’s godown in Seelampur, where it was sold to various buyers. Police seized 10 rolls worth Rs7 lakh from Umar Khan (48) in Khayala Industrial Area. Hanif was arrested from Seelampur on Tuesday, while Iqbal and Ashraf remain absconding.
Police said Naresh had a history of 16 burglary and theft cases, Khan was previously involved in a hurt case, and Hanif had a murder case registered against him. The investigation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused.
