BOSTON — A Dorchester man accused of carrying out a multi-state shoplifting spree targeting Target stores was arrested by Boston police on Dec. 30.
Long Tran, 54, faces charges of shoplifting by asportation over $250 and trespassing. Police said the arrest followed an incident at the South Bay Plaza Target store around 4:49 p.m.
According to authorities, Tran attempted to conceal 27 bottles of lotion inside a large duffel bag without paying and was stopped by a loss prevention officer. Investigators noted that Tran had previously been banned from the store in November.
Police say Tran is suspected of stealing approximately $56,000 worth of merchandise from Target locations across several states, including Massachusetts.
Tran is scheduled to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
