Beed city police in Maharashtra have cracked a gang accused of duping vehicle owners by pretending to buy their cars, officials confirmed. Two suspects, Guddu Khan Rehmat Khan and Abdul Rajik Abdul Sadik from Amravati district, have been arrested.
According to police, the gang would offer car owners a small advance, take possession of their vehicles under the promise of completing documentation and clearing the remaining payment, but never returned the cars.
The case came to light when Sachin Asaram Borade reported that his Swift Dzire had been stolen by the gang. The vehicle has now been seized and was allegedly used in cattle theft, authorities said.
Police advised sellers to verify buyers’ credentials carefully, even when transactions are mediated through intermediaries. They stressed that vehicles should not be handed over until full payment is received and registration and transfer formalities are completed.
