KERRVILLE, Texas — A man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly attempting to rob a Kerrville bank, police said.

Officers were dispatched just before 1 p.m. to the Kerr County Federal Credit Union in the 2300 block of Junction Highway following reports of a robbery attempt. Investigators said the suspect entered the bank and handed a note to an employee demanding money. No cash was exchanged.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, but witnesses provided a description that allowed officers to quickly locate the car nearby. Police stopped the vehicle minutes later and detained the driver without incident.

The suspect was identified as 42-year-old George Washington Waring II. He was booked into the Kerr County Jail on a robbery charge.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
