Dewas police have arrested five members of a gang accused of stealing goods from moving trucks on the Agra-Bombay highway.
The case came to light on December 10 when Jasram Yadav, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, reported that 13 LED televisions had been stolen from his truck. Tonkkhurd police registered a case and formed a dedicated investigation team.
Officers analyzed CCTV footage from cameras along the highway, gathered technical evidence, and deployed informers. The footage showed the suspects fleeing the scene. Based on this, Vikas Guden (25) was the first arrested, with one LED TV recovered.
Information obtained during Guden’s interrogation led to the arrests of Aryan Hada (19) and Pankaj alias Rohit Guden (22). Police seized two LED TVs, Rs 38,000 in cash, a motorcycle, and a cutter from them. Subsequently, Mod Singh Kanjar (56) and Satish Kanjar (26) were arrested, and officers recovered five LED TVs, a motorcycle, and Rs 53,000 in cash.
In total, authorities recovered 8 LED TVs, two motorcycles, one cutter, and Rs 91,000 in cash. The value of the seized goods is estimated at approximately Rs 3.25 lakh.
All arrested individuals are residents of the Kanjar community camps in Devmundla and Samgi within Tonkkhurd police jurisdiction. According to police, the gang conducted nighttime raids on trucks parked on roads, cutting them open to steal goods.
