82-Year-Old Woman Charged in Boyfriend’s Death

Tunica County woman accused of murder

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An 82-year-old woman from Tunica County has been charged in the shooting death of her 75-year-old boyfriend. Authorities said Mattie Crockett called 911 Tuesday, reporting that she had shot her boyfriend.

The victim, James Larry Jr. of Sledge, Mississippi, was found at a residence on Tibbs Road and pronounced dead at the scene. Crockett was initially taken to a local hospital for treatment before being transported to the Tunica County Jail.

Crockett has been charged with murder and appeared before a judge on Wednesday. She is being held on a $100,000 bond. The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
