In Bhojpur district, eight jewel thieves were arrested on Wednesday, following a police investigation into a burglary that involved stolen gold and silver ornaments. Ara sadar ASP-cum-Sadar subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Parichay Kumar confirmed the arrests at a press conference, revealing that the theft occurred on January 18 at the house of Anshu Devi in Rampur Milki village. The Mufassil police station had registered a burglary case after the incident.
The investigation led the police to identify the eight suspects, whose names emerged during the probe. The breakthrough came when two of the accused were spotted riding a stolen two-wheeler that had been taken from the same house, along with the jewelry. Based on their confessions, the police were able to arrest all eight thieves from various locations across the district.
The police recovered a range of stolen items, including gold jewelry such as a mangalsutra, two necklaces, a locket, a nose ring, a pair of earrings, toe rings, and a bracelet. Additionally, three pairs of silver anklets were seized, along with two stolen two-wheelers and a bicycle.
The eight arrested individuals, identified as Ankit Yadav, Guddu Khan, his wife Heena Begum, Chhotu Kumar Singh, Chandan Yadav, Mohd Kaimuddin, Sahjad Alam, and Uma Shankar Yadav, are all residents of Bhojpur district. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover their criminal backgrounds, as confirmed by the ASP.
