8 Arrested in Beaufort County Drug and Shooting Probe

Guns and fentanyl seized during Port Royal raid

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — Eight individuals have been arrested following a sweeping investigation into a series of shootings and illegal drug activity in Beaufort County.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force, with help from the Port Royal Police Department, linked the suspects to multiple shootings in Burton, St. Helena Island, and Port Royal. Their investigation centered on a residence in the 1000 block of Ribaut Road in Port Royal, which was raided on Friday under a search warrant.

Authorities seized illegal drugs—including fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and firearms—during the search.

The following suspects were arrested and charged:

Donnell Polite – Trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, meth possession, and weapon possession during a violent crime.

Crystal R. Evans – Trafficking fentanyl, crack cocaine distribution, meth possession, and weapon possession during a violent crime.

Brandon R. Parker – Trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute multiple drugs, firearm possession during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jermel V. James – Similar charges to Parker, including firearm possession as a felon.

Elijah K. Clark, Chavis A. Mathis, Robyn S. Goodwine, and Julianna M. Warren – Each charged with possession of methamphetamine.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities indicating that further charges or arrests may follow.
