POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) – A Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) community service aide and 7-Eleven employee has been arrested for allegedly printing and keeping $65,000 worth of lottery tickets without paying for them.

According to BSO investigators, the store at 2391 North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach noticed an unusually high number of lottery ticket sales between April and May 2024. An internal audit revealed that 44-year-old Chantalle Civil, a store employee, was responsible.

Caught in the Act
Detectives say Civil printed lottery tickets while on the clock and even visited the store on her days off to access the lottery terminal.

Adding to the scandal, Civil wasn’t just a 7-Eleven employee—she had been working for BSO since 2002 as a community service aide in the Oakland Park District. Following her arrest, she was placed on administrative leave without pay.

Civil now faces charges of grand theft and obtaining property by fraud.
