The police in Zirakpur have successfully apprehended six individuals involved in a drug peddling operation, seizing 13 kg of opium from their possession. The police also confiscated the vehicle used for trafficking the drugs.
One of the primary suspects, Jashanpreet Singh, hails from Lalchia village in Guru Har Sahai, Ferozepur district.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Pareek, the operation was carried out by Inspector Jaskanwal Singh Sekhon, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Zirakpur Police Station, with assistance from Sub-Inspector Surjit Singh of the Crime Investigation Agency.
A case has been registered under sections 18-61-85 of the NDPS Act and section 111 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Zirakpur Police Station. Preliminary investigations reveal that the opium had been sourced from Jharkhand.
The authorities continue to probe the case further, with the arrest of Jashanpreet Singh and his associates highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
