A 17-year-old boy from Chakan died late Friday night, four days after being brutally assaulted by six construction workers at a labour camp in Dudulgaon near Dighi. The incident occurred around 2 PM on August 25, after the minor allegedly attempted theft inside the camp.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar, the teen and two others had entered the labour camp with the intention of stealing valuables from hutments. While two of his accomplices escaped, the workers managed to catch the boy, tie his hands and legs, and beat him using plastic pipes.
On August 26, the Dighi police were tipped off about someone being confined in a hut. Officers responded, rescued the injured teen, and shifted him to a hospital, where he died under medical care around 11 PM on August 30.
Following his death, the victim’s 17-year-old wife lodged a formal complaint at Dighi police station. A case of murder has been registered.

“All six are construction workers employed at a nearby residential project,” DCP Bangar confirmed.
Police are continuing the investigation to verify the roles of the other two individuals who reportedly fled the scene.
