The police have made significant progress in the investigation into the murder of activist Jagaber Ali, who had been vocal against illegal stone quarrying in the Thirumayam area of the district. On Sunday night, four individuals were arrested in connection with the crime.
Among those arrested are Rasu, a quarry owner; his son Dinesh; Muruganandham, a lorry owner; and Kasinathan, the vehicle driver. The arrests followed detailed inquiries conducted by the police, who believe these individuals were involved in the murder.
The police are still on the lookout for one more suspect, Ramaiah, who is another quarry owner operating in the Thirumayam taluk. Authorities believe Ramaiah’s involvement is crucial in the ongoing investigation into the murder.
Jagaber Ali, an activist known for his stance against illegal quarrying in the region, had become a target of the quarrying mafia. His efforts to expose and halt the illegal activities led to threats against his life, and his tragic death has drawn widespread condemnation.
The authorities are continuing their investigation, with the arrests signaling a step toward justice for Jagaber Ali. The police are determined to bring the remaining accused to justice and ensure that such criminal activities are dealt with sternly.
