FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Four Allen County residents have been arrested and charged with felony armed robbery after allegedly conspiring to rob a man using a machete and a handgun.
The suspects—39-year-old Cassandra Ehinger, 46-year-old Wilfredo Rivera Jr., 31-year-old Joseph Drummond, and 43-year-old Richard Grant—are currently being held at the Allen County Jail.
Police responded to a convenience store near the Hawthorn Extended Stay on Lima Road at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, after reports of a robbery. The victim told authorities he had gone to the hotel to meet Ehinger, whom he had met through a dating app. According to the victim, Ehinger led him to a room and closed the door behind them. Once inside, the victim was confronted by three men who allegedly threatened to kill him.
Rivera allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim, while Drummond held a machete to his neck. Grant is accused of physically striking the victim. Drummond is said to have removed the victim’s jacket and stolen $300 from it.
Ehinger allegedly confessed to being part of the plot, claiming that she lured the victim to the hotel under the pretense of a “sexual escapade,” intending to rob him. Court records indicate that she played a key role in setting up the robbery under the guise of prostitution.
All four suspects face felony armed robbery charges. Rivera and Drummond are also facing felony intimidation charges. In addition to the armed robbery and intimidation charges, Drummond is also facing charges of possession of cocaine. Police reportedly found a substance in his possession that tested positive for fentanyl.
