Ondo State, Nigeria — Officers from the Yaba Division of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three suspects in Ondo town in connection with a stolen motorcycle traced back to Osun State.
The arrests followed a report on October 9, 2025, by Tosin, a resident of Ile-Ife, Osun State, who said his red Bajaj motorcycle was forcefully taken by unknown assailants, leaving the rider injured and hospitalized.
Based on credible intelligence, the Yaba Division launched a coordinated operation resulting in the recovery of the stolen motorcycle and the arrest of suspects Uche Unwankwo, Afolabi Olabisi, and Taye Akinmolayan.
During interrogation, Akinmolayan, the only female suspect, gave conflicting statements about the motorcycle’s acquisition before admitting involvement in the crime.
Preliminary investigations show the motorcycle was forcibly taken in Ile-Ife and transported to Ondo, where it was intended to be resold. The suspects are believed to be part of an inter-state syndicate operating across Osun, Ondo, and Edo States, specializing in motorcycle theft and resale.
The case has been handed over to the Tactical Investigation and Response Squad (TIRS) for further inquiry, with efforts ongoing to apprehend other fleeing syndicate members. The injured rider is currently receiving medical treatment.
Ondo State Police Commissioner Adebowale Lawal praised the Yaba Division officers for their swift action and professionalism, assuring the public of the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and protecting lives and property. He urged residents to stay vigilant, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies to maintain peace in the state.
