3 Arrested in Bhubaneswar Online Investment Scam of Rs10 Lakh

Fake scheme promised 7% returns; more victims suspected

A youth from Bhubaneswar has reportedly lost Rs10 lakh to an online investment scam, leading the Commissionerate Police to arrest three suspects from various districts across Odisha.

The accused—Siddhartha Pujari (from Koraput), Abinash Sahu (from Khordha), and Vivek Singh (from Jaipur Town)—allegedly operated a fraudulent investment racket using fake websites and a network of agents. They lured victims with promises of high monthly returns.

“The accused promised a 7% return and even made initial payments to some investors to build credibility. Once they received larger sums, they stopped payouts,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena in a press briefing on Sunday.

After not receiving any returns, the victim filed a complaint at the Cyber Police Station. An investigation swiftly led to the arrests of all three accused.

Police believe that several others may have also been duped and are currently expanding their probe to uncover the full extent of the fraud.
