Hawai‘i Island — A coordinated five-day sweep led by multiple law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of 22 fugitives across Hawai‘i Island. The operation, conducted from June 23 to 27, was a joint effort between Hawai‘i Island police, the U.S. Marshals Service Hawai‘i Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement.

The charges ranged widely — including assault, robbery, terroristic threatening, and domestic abuse.

Among the most notable arrests:

Nathan Eugene Cakin, 45, of Ocean View, was apprehended after an hours-long standoff and was wanted for bail violations.

William Alan Peter Kapualoha Kaohu, 54, of Kailua-Kona, was taken into custody on federal drug charges and is now being held by Homeland Security at a federal detention center on O‘ahu.

Other arrests included:

Matthew Akem Alani, 33, charged with felony and misdemeanor domestic abuse and assault — bail set at $30,000.

Travis Demello-Oda, 29, linked to identity theft and multiple theft and fraud charges — bail set at $277,000.

Lyam E.H. Zelber, 25, facing a range of serious charges including auto theft, burglary, assault, and weapons violations — bail set at $63,600.

Cyrus Kendall Reaume, 41, of Kea‘au, charged with multiple domestic abuse and terroristic threatening counts — bail set at $14,500.

The arrests reflect a collaborative commitment to community safety and holding repeat offenders accountable. Some individuals, like Shari Lee Pumeha Pajimola, are being held without bail pending court appearances. Others, including Molly Yacapin, 67, were charged with drug-related offenses.

Police are urging anyone with information related to recent thefts or crimes to come forward.
