21 Arrested in Chennai Drug Crackdown, 15.8 kg Ganja Seized

Greater Chennai Police arrest 21 for ganja possession and painkiller trafficking

The Greater Chennai Police (GCP) arrested 21 individuals during a special two-day operation aimed at curbing drug-related activities. The operation resulted in the seizure of 15.8 kg of ganja and 4,184 painkiller tablets. Acting on a tip-off, the police team from the Tondiarpet police station conducted surveillance at Kailasam Street in Tondiarpet, leading to the arrest of four individuals—H. Karthik alias ‘Pura’ Karthik (25), M. Madhankumar (19), M. Abdul Kareem (25), and C. Joseph alias Dinesh (27)—for possessing illegal painkiller tablets. The police confiscated 3,005 nitrazepam tablets and four mobile phones from the suspects. Further investigations are underway.
