A 20-year-old woman has been arrested as the main supplier in a drug trafficking case following the arrest of a youth caught smuggling heroin in Panchkula.
The police received a tip-off on February 28, 2025, about a youth smuggling heroin and swiftly arrested Sujal, a resident of Benipur village, Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, who was living as a tenant in Bapu Dham Colony, Chandigarh. Sujal was found in possession of 28.98 grams of heroin near a government tubewell in Sector 31, Panchkula.
Sujal could not provide any valid documentation for the heroin and was arrested under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police took him on a three-day remand for further investigation.
During the investigation, Sujal provided key information, which led to the arrest of Pooja, the main supplier, a 20-year-old woman residing in Sector 38-D. Pooja was arrested on March 2, 2025, and was booked under Section 29 of the NDPS Act.
She was produced in court the same day and remanded to two days of police custody for further questioning. Meanwhile, Sujal has been sent to judicial custody.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to probe the network behind the drug trafficking operation.
