18-Year-Old Denayla Martin Arrested for Assault and Theft in Southeast D.C.

Denayla Martin Faces Charges for February 2nd Theft and Assault Incident

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — An 18-year-old woman, Denayla Martin, was arrested in connection with an assault and theft incident that occurred on February 2 in Southeast D.C.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to a report of a theft in progress around 6:10 p.m. in the Unit block of I Street. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been assaulted by multiple suspects attempting to steal items from a business. The suspects fled the scene with stolen items before police arrived.

On February 18, Martin, a resident of Southeast D.C., turned herself in to police. She was arrested and charged with Simple Assault, Destruction of Property, and Theft (Second Degree).
