Patna: In a major crackdown on cybercrime, the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) has arrested 13 members of an interstate cyber fraud gang operating out of a hotel in Patna. The gang was running elaborate online scams through Telegram, fake gaming apps, and Bitcoin investment schemes, targeting people across India with promises of quick money.
The fraudsters, operating from Matri Hotel and Banquet Hall on Khajpura Nehru Path, lured victims by sending online tasks via Telegram—such as liking videos or leaving reviews. After gaining trust by paying small rewards, they urged victims to invest larger sums in Bitcoin or gaming apps, promising high returns. Once money was transferred, all communication would cease.
Shockingly, some victims were even manipulated into taking loans from microfinance companies, only to hand the money over to the gang.
The arrested individuals hail from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and have been identified as:

The raid was conducted jointly by the Bihar STF, Cyber Police Station, and Shastri Nagar Police Station. Police seized 15 mobile phones, a car, and recovered bank account details connected to nearly 40 complaints nationwide. The estimated fraud committed so far is around Rs14.1 crore.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members linked to the scam.
Authorities are warning citizens not to trust any online schemes that promise quick returns, especially those involving cryptocurrency or unsolicited tasks. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
