In a major crackdown on auto theft, the Delhi Police arrested 12 vehicle thieves and recovered 24 stolen vehicles in coordinated operations across Dwarka, officials said Thursday.
The Anti Auto Theft Squad, along with police teams from Dabri, Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, and Sector-23, conducted multiple raids targeting known offenders.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said the operations were part of a special drive aimed at curbing rampant motor vehicle thefts in the district.
Among the key arrests were Ketan Singh (24) and Rudra (18) from Uttam Nagar, tracked through CCTV footage. Six motorcycles were recovered from their possession. Ketan has prior involvement in nine theft cases.
Another team arrested Amit (27), Chandan (23), and Aman (22) in Mohan Garden. The trio had previous records of robbery and burglary. Police recovered four motorcycles and a scooter from them.
The Anti Auto Theft Squad also apprehended Robert (42) and Ravi (34), both with long criminal histories. The duo were linked to two stolen vans and four two-wheelers.
In a separate case, Raman (56) and his son Sagar (31) from Rohini were caught with a stolen car, with links to vehicle sales in Meerut.
Night patrol in Uttam Nagar led to the arrest of Sandeep (24), who was riding a stolen bike. His interrogation led to the recovery of two more stolen motorcycles.
Police also arrested Sharukh (28) and Deepak Singh (28), both with histories in snatching. They were caught with two stolen scooters.
DCP Singh confirmed, “A total of 24 vehicles — including four cars and 20 two-wheelers — have been recovered. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more links in these networks.”
