Zion Rhodriquez, a 24-year-old man from Myrtle Beach, was arrested on Wednesday evening after a large police presence was spotted on Raven Street. Rhodriquez faces several charges, including first-degree assault, malicious injury, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. These charges stem from an alleged assault earlier in the week.
In addition to the initial charges, WMBF News obtained a new warrant on Friday, which revealed further allegations against Rhodriquez. The new charge is for second-degree domestic violence in connection to an incident that occurred in August 2024. The warrant states that Rhodriquez allegedly kicked a woman, who was pregnant with his child, in the stomach while they struggled over a cell phone on Kent Lane. The victim reportedly had a small raised red mark on her forearm as a result of the altercation.
Rhodriquez is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $12,000 bond. WMBF News has requested additional details from the Horry County Police Department regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
