MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Deh’maurieon Denmark at Tom Poore Park in Midwest City.

Zantayvean Dayvon Smith, 18, along with two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were taken into custody Wednesday night, according to authorities.

Investigation Reveals New Details
Witnesses reported hearing three to four gunshots on Sunday night before police arrived. Court documents reveal that Denmark had planned to meet the 17-year-old suspect at the park that evening.

The vehicle driven by the 17-year-old was later located at Star Spencer High School. When questioned, the suspect initially claimed no firearm would be found in the car. However, police discovered a pistol inside.

Conflicting Statements
Smith told investigators that the 17-year-old had arranged to meet someone at the park for a “deal.” He also stated that he heard the 17-year-old yell, “he’s got a gun.”

During questioning, Smith claimed that both the 17-year-old suspect and Denmark may have been armed but was unsure who fired first. However, another 16-year-old suspect, who was on the other side of the park, told police that Denmark did not have a weapon.

Ongoing Investigation
Authorities continue to investigate the shooting and analyze evidence, including shell casings found at the scene, which did not match the weapon found in the suspect’s car.

All three suspects remain in custody as police work to determine the full circumstances surrounding Denmark’s death.
