JUNEAU, Wis. — Zachariah Rasch, 42, the estranged husband of missing Dodge County woman Crystal Rasch, was arrested Thursday on charges of identity theft. Rasch allegedly used his wife’s credit cards following her disappearance.
Rasch faces seven counts of misappropriating identification information to obtain money. A $250,000 cash bond was set on Friday, with the stipulation that he not contact the victim or her family.
Crystal Rasch, who was reported missing on June 23, was last traced through cell phone pings that reached a tower in Adams County. This area is near land owned by Zachariah Rasch’s family. Authorities also found his 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse nearby, which is now being analyzed for evidence by the state crime lab.
Rasch’s criminal complaint details multiple unauthorized purchases made using his wife’s credit cards, including chemical-resistant gloves, stain remover, and several other cleaning products. Surveillance footage corroborated these purchases, showing Rasch making transactions. The complaint also mentions numerous cash withdrawals.
When questioned by police, Rasch initially denied using his wife’s cards but later admitted to the fraudulent purchases after being shown evidence. Rasch had previously been charged with violating a domestic abuse restraining order in 2018 for contacting Crystal Rasch.
A contested divorce hearing is scheduled for August 8, 2024.
