Koh-e-Fiza police have successfully busted a gang involved in multiple chain snatching incidents and two robberies committed within a span of 30 minutes on July 2. Authorities recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 2.8 lakh from the suspects.
According to police reports, two complaints were registered on the evening of July 2. Around 8 pm, a woman near Green Acres Colony was attacked by bike-borne miscreants who snatched her gold chain. Later the same night, another woman, Rimjhim Saxena, reported a similar theft near Vijay Nagar.
Acting swiftly, the police formed a special team and reviewed CCTV footage from the crime scenes. They identified three suspects riding a bike and mapped their escape route, leading to the arrest of gang leader Yusuf Khan, alias Chuchu (21), along with Nadeem Khan (19) and a juvenile. Aasiya B, linked to the pledged stolen chain, was also apprehended.
Police station in-charge KG Shukla informed the media that after stealing two gold chains, Yusuf Khan handed one chain to his wife, who mortgaged it at a private gold loan finance company in Ashoka Garden for Rs 1.15 lakh. The money was reportedly used for shopping, toys, travel, and to modify their bike with Rs 9,000 spent on upgrades.
The police are continuing their investigation and have assured strict action against the gang.
