S.B. Ahmed Basha, a prominent YSRCP leader and younger brother of former Deputy Chief Minister S.B. Amzath Basha, was arrested by Kadapa police on Sunday. He was detained at Mumbai airport as he was about to board a flight to Kuwait.
The arrest comes after a series of allegations against Basha, including land grabbing and derogatory remarks. Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy filed a complaint against him, claiming that Basha had abused her and other TDP leaders, including senior members of the party, over a property dispute.
In addition, Basha is accused of posting offensive comments on social media about Speaker Ayyana Patrudu and Home Minister Vangalpudi Anitha. According to sources, Basha has been residing in Dubai since the NDA government came into power. He returned to India during the Eid festival and was planning to leave for Kuwait when the police took action.
Authorities had issued a look-out notice against him, and immigration officials at Mumbai airport halted his departure, notifying Andhra Pradesh police of his presence. Basha is expected to be brought before the Kadapa Court on Monday.
