CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – Two men have been arrested following the discovery of an illegal gambling operation in West Ashley, according to the Charleston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit.

Youngyan Jiang, 47, and Kenneth Wang, 52, were taken into custody on Wednesday and are both charged with unlawful games and betting.

The arrests came after officers executed a search warrant at a multi-tenant building on Savannah Highway, where they uncovered a gambling setup that included nine illegal gaming machines. Wang was arrested at the scene.

Further investigation led officers, with assistance from the North Charleston Police Department Narcotics Unit, to a residence in North Charleston, where they conducted a second search. Additional gambling equipment and documents were discovered, and Jiang was arrested on site.

Both suspects are currently being held at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center as the investigation continues.
