Yemen & Gaza Nationals Arrested in Hyderabad MDMA Bust

H-NEW seizes drugs worth Rs 25 Lakh in joint operation

by Ananya Mehta

A joint operation by the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Rajendra Nagar Police led to the arrest of two foreign drug peddlers and the seizure of 150 grams of MDMA worth approximately Rs 25 Lakh.

The arrested individuals were identified as Al-Aqar Abdurabu Mohammed Abdurabu (37), a Yemeni national previously linked to six cases, and Hasan WA Hashem (28) from Gaza, Palestine.

According to DCP S Srinivas, the duo procured narcotics such as MDMA and cocaine from an absconding Nigerian supplier through WhatsApp orders, making online payments. Hasan reportedly assisted Abdurabu in collecting the drugs and selling them to consumers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, using methods like dead-drops or direct deliveries. Occasionally, the drugs were sent via private travel buses.

Police noted that students, IT professionals, doctors, and other private employees, many well-educated, are being lured into drug consumption and gradually drawn into the narcotics trade, contributing to anti-social activities.

The seizure occurred on March 3, during a planned operation, highlighting the dangers of narcotics trafficking and the need for public vigilance. Authorities urged the public to avoid substance abuse, advised parents to monitor their children, and encouraged anyone with information about drug activity to contact the H-NEW team at 8712661601 or dial 100 / 112.
