Yasmeen Ali to Stand Trial Over Deaths of Three Children

Bristol court sets provisional trial date for 2026

by Amelia Crawford

A woman accused of killing her three young children has been told she will face trial, as their father attended court holding photographs of them.

Yasmeen Ali, 43, is charged with the murders of seven-year-old Fares Bash, three-year-old Joury Bash and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash. The charges relate to an incident at the family home in the Sea Mills area of Bristol in February 2024.

During a short hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, Judge Peter Blair KC, the Recorder of Bristol, set a provisional trial date of October 12, 2026. Ali did not attend the hearing and is currently being held in a psychiatric hospital.

Previous inquest proceedings heard that the children died following an incident involving a knife at the Blaise Walk address. Further details were not discussed during the latest court appearance.

The children’s father, Alfil Bash, was present in court and held up photographs of Fares, Joury and Mohammed as proceedings took place. Other members of the local community also attended the hearing.

Ali is next expected to appear before the court via video link on March 20, 2026.

Following the incident, Avon and Somerset Police made a self-referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to earlier contact with the family. The watchdog later confirmed that no investigation would be opened.
