MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. (2025) — Two men with extensive criminal records, Yasmani Junior Benavides (20) and Anquan Deion Wiley (22), are facing new armed robbery and battery charges after a violent attack on a woman in Miami-Dade’s Tamiami neighborhood earlier this year.

According to the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, the assault occurred on May 3 around 6 a.m. near the 800 block of SW 154th Court, when a white Genesis sedan approached the victim as she was unloading items from her car. Three masked suspects jumped out, with Benavides and Wiley reportedly dragging her to the ground and attempting to steal her purse, while the third assailant struck her in the head with a handgun.

The woman suffered a scalp laceration requiring stitches and was treated at a hospital.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects using her stolen credit cards shortly after the robbery at a CVS and a car wash on South Dixie Highway. Police matched the suspects’ clothing and the vehicle to the robbery and identified Benavides and Wiley via fingerprints and video evidence.

Benavides was arrested on August 12 and is charged with:

Armed robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon

Aggravated battery with great bodily harm

He also faces pending charges in other cases, including:

Armed robbery

Attempted felony murder

Burglary

Credit card fraud

Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Wiley, meanwhile, faces charges of:

Armed robbery

Illegal firearm possession as a convicted felon

Tampering with evidence

Resisting an officer without violence

He’s also charged in unrelated cases including grand theft auto, armed burglary, and aggravated battery.

Both suspects remain in custody without bond at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center. Authorities are still searching for the third suspect involved in the Tamiami robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
