HILLTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A midnight garage burglary in Upper Bucks County led to a multi-agency manhunt and the arrest of two Reading men, Yalexander Yamil Muniz and Joel Gerardo Santiago-Lopez, both 22, early on July 8.
Police say the incident began around 2:30 a.m., when a homeowner on Callowhill Road received an alert that a garage camera had been disconnected. The homeowner found the garage door open and three dirt bikes missing — two gas-powered and one electric.
Officers responded quickly and, with help from a passerby, tracked the suspects toward Route 113 and Route 313. At 2:50 a.m., a Pennridge Regional officer attempted a stop on a white Chrysler 200 and two dirt bikes. The bikes fled, but one was soon recovered.
Muniz, driving the Chrysler, was arrested at the scene. Officers saw a stolen electric dirt bike protruding from the vehicle’s trunk.
Later, around 4:30 a.m., a Perkasie officer located an Infiniti sedan on Ridge Road with hazard lights on. After investigation, Santiago-Lopez was identified as one of the dirt bike riders and taken into custody.
Both men were arraigned before Judge Regina Armitage, with bail set at 10% of $75,000 each. They remain in custody at Bucks County Correctional Facility.
Muniz faces felony charges of burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property, along with misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Santiago-Lopez is charged with felony counts of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal trespassing.
The search continues for a third suspect and the remaining stolen dirt bike.
Hilltown Police thanked several agencies for their assistance, including Pennridge Regional, Perkasie Borough, Richland Township, Quakertown Borough, New Britain Township, Solebury Township, and Pennsylvania State Police.
