FAIRFIELD, CT — A father and son from Waterbury have been arrested for allegedly stealing tires from the Town Fair Tire store in Southport this past September.
Xavier Velez and his son, Xavier Alexis Velez, face charges including sixth-degree larceny (two counts), third-degree larceny, and first-degree criminal trespass, according to Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington.
The charges relate to two overnight thefts on September 11 and September 25. Police identified the vehicle used in the thefts and confirmed both men as suspects through surveillance footage. A search warrant later recovered approximately 100 used tires from the suspects, prompting officers to request arrest warrants.
Both men were released after posting $15,000 bail each and are scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Monday.
