PATRICK COUNTY, VA — Two Woolwine residents have been arrested and charged in connection with the violent assault of a 17-year-old boy, according to Sheriff Dan Smith of the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident, which authorities are calling a premeditated and unprovoked attack, occurred on February 21, 2025, at a residence on Fishpond Drive in Elamsville. The victim was lured to the location and later sustained multiple facial fractures requiring reconstructive surgery. His mother alerted law enforcement shortly after the assault.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested the following individuals on February 28:
Freddie Lee Kendrick Jr., 22, of 1392 Iron Bridge Road
Amber Mary Kendrick, 24, of 1224 Iron Bridge Road
Charges:
Both individuals face charges of:
Malicious Wounding
Conspiracy to Commit Malicious Wounding
In addition, Freddie Kendrick Jr. faces an extra charge of:
Soliciting a Minor to Commit Malicious Wounding
According to investigators, Freddie Kendrick Jr. is accused of recruiting a 15-year-old juvenile to carry out the attack after learning that the victim was at the Fishpond Drive residence. Once there, Kendrick Jr. allegedly instructed the minor to physically assault the victim, who attempted to flee and did not fight back, authorities said.
Three simultaneous search warrants were executed the next day, February 22, at the homes of both Kendricks and the juvenile suspect. Cell phones were seized, and investigators discovered video footage and digital messages allegedly detailing the planning and execution of the attack.
Authorities claim:
Amber Kendrick filmed the assault
Freddie Kendrick Jr. orchestrated the event
The 15-year-old suspect is also facing identical charges, though juvenile proceedings differ legally. Sheriff Smith emphasized that the case is being pursued with the utmost seriousness, calling it a “disturbing, deliberate act of violence.”
Both Freddie and Amber Kendrick are being held without bond at the Patrick County Jail. The investigation is ongoing, led by Lieutenant Steve Austin.
