by Sophia Bennett

Raven Gomez, 28, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for assaulting a police officer during a violent incident in Jasper County. The attack took place in October 2023 when officers responded to a disturbance at Pete’s Convenience Store.

Gomez, who pleaded guilty to third-degree assault, struck a female officer in the face multiple times during the confrontation. Brandon David, 48, who was with Gomez at the time, also punched the officer and attempted to steal her patrol vehicle. When that failed, they fled the scene in another vehicle, running over the officer’s foot twice in the process.

David remains charged in Jasper County and is awaiting a court date in November. Gomez, however, will serve nearly a decade behind bars for her role in the assault.
