In a major breakthrough, the Kasaragod police have arrested four individuals, including a woman suspected of practising witchcraft, for their involvement in the brutal murder of expatriate businessman M.C. Abdul Ghafoor Haji (55). The murder took place near the Farookhiya mosque at Poochakkad in Kasaragod, Kerala. Investigations have revealed that the motive behind the crime was the theft of 596 souvereigns of jewellery.

The arrested suspects are identified as Ubaid (38), a resident of Melparamba; his wife, Shamima (38), who is allegedly involved in witchcraft practices and is known as ‘Manthravadini’; Asneefah (34) and Aisha (40), both of Vidyanagar. They were arrested by an 11-member police team led by District Crime Records Bureau DySP K.J. Johnson and Bekal Inspector K.P. Shine, under the guidance of District Police Chief D. Shilpa.

The investigation has made significant progress, and the authorities are continuing to piece together the details of the crime. The murder was connected to the disappearance of the valuable jewellery, which had been taken from Abdul Ghafoor’s possession. Authorities believe that the suspects played a key role in both the murder and theft.
