Police in West Kootenay have arrested a suspect linked to a break-in at a local daycare.
On August 10, RCMP officers spotted a suspicious red Ford pickup south of Silverton and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, prompting further investigation.
Cpl. James Grandy explained that the pickup and its occupants were possibly connected to a break-and-enter reported earlier that day in Crescent Valley. Surveillance images from the incident were widely shared on social media.
A day later, on August 11, a local resident recognized the vehicle and driver from the images and reported it to the police.
Thanks to this public tip, officers tracked down the red pickup and arrested the female driver in Nakusp.
She was released with a scheduled court date as police continue investigating other potential related incidents in the area.
RCMP from Nakusp and Slocan Lake expressed their commitment to reducing property crime and thanked the community for their valuable assistance.
Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact Nakusp or Slocan Lake RCMP.
