A shocking case unfolded when a woman, Disha Chandrasen Ramteke, and her lover, Asif Ansari alias Raja Babu Tyrewala, were arrested for the murder of Disha’s paralysed husband, Chandrasen Balkrishna Ramteke, aged 38.
Chandrasen had suffered a paralytic stroke 18 months prior and was bedridden at home. During this period, Disha started a water plant business and developed a relationship with Asif, a local mechanic. Their illicit affair led to frequent conflicts at home as Chandrasen grew suspicious of his wife’s behaviour.
On July 4, the couple allegedly suffocated Chandrasen with a pillow while he was sleeping. After the murder, Disha left the house and returned two hours later, taking the victim to a government hospital and reporting his death as natural.
Police initially recorded the death as accidental, but a post-mortem revealed signs of strangulation and injury marks around Chandrasen’s neck, leading to a murder investigation.
Following the autopsy report, police arrested Disha and Asif under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder.
