Witchcraft Suspect and 3 Others Arrested in Murder of M.C. Abdul Ghafoor

In a shocking development, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of expatriate businessman M.C. Abdul Ghafoor Haji, aged 55, near the Farookhiya mosque in Poochakkad, Kasaragod, Kerala. The suspects, including a woman accused of practising witchcraft, are believed to be involved in a murder that is linked to the theft of 596 souvereigns of jewellery.

The arrested individuals include Ubaid (38) of Melparamba, his wife Shamima (38), who is reportedly known as a “Manthravadini” (a practitioner of witchcraft), along with Asneefah (34) and Aisha (40), both of Vidyanagar.

A special 11-member police team, led by District Crime Records Bureau DySP K.J. Johnson and Bekal Inspector K.P. Shine, carried out the arrests under the supervision of District Police Chief D. Shilpa. The investigation suggests that the murder was carried out in connection with the stolen jewellery, though further details are still emerging.
