PITT COUNTY, NC — A 19-year-old Winterville man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including attempted first-degree murder, following an incident investigated by the Greenville Police Department.
According to court records, Kamuarian Darrell Whitehurst was taken into custody on January 8, 2026. He faces charges of:
Two counts of attempted first-degree murder
Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury
Felony conspiracy
Soliciting gang activity
Authorities allege Whitehurst attempted to kill a 17-year-old juvenile with malice aforethought. In a separate charge, he is accused of assaulting the same juvenile with a handgun, causing serious injury. Court records further indicate he attempted to kill another person in a separate incident.
Investigators also say Whitehurst conspired with Treymon Whitehurst to commit murder and participated in criminal gang activity, committing the assault to benefit or advance his standing within a gang.
