
Wilmington Man Arrested in Major Drug Bust, Faces Multiple Trafficking and Firearm Charges
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is facing serious charges after a two-month narcotics investigation led to a raid and large drug and weapon seizure.
Phillip Bernard Devone was arrested on Thursday, April 24, following a raid at a residence located at 217 North 31st Street by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Vice & Narcotics Division.
During the search, detectives seized approximately 55 grams of fentanyl, along with crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and methamphetamine. They also found 32 wax bags containing heroin/fentanyl, a stolen Glock .43 handgun, and an AK-47 style rifle.
Devone, a convicted felon with prior offenses for trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon, now faces the following charges:
2 counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin
4 counts of Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver (PWISD) Schedule II drugs
4 counts of Manufacturing
Possession of a stolen handgun
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Devone is currently being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility on a $1.5 million secured bond.
