ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has reported seizing 10 pounds of marijuana for the second time in less than a week.
Willie Boneparte Jr., 38, of Orangeburg, faces charges of trafficking marijuana (10 pounds or more), as well as attempt and conspiracy, according to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell. The charges follow a bust in which deputies found marijuana, a concentrated THC form known as “DAB,” and THC vape pens.
The seizure took place at a residence on Kips Lane after deputies attended a funeral for a fallen officer on Wednesday. Narcotics officers discovered the drugs inside glass jars and a box of vape pens.
Sheriff Ravenell emphasized the resilience of his team, saying, “This operation was conducted immediately following the funeral service for our fallen deputy. But despite our grief, we’re still serving the community.”
Boneparte now faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
